Low Blood Pressure
High blood pressure (HBP) is always regarded as a serious issue. But in some instances, even low blood pressure (LBP) can mean something serious. Such patients usually experience dizziness, blurring of vision, nausea, vomiting, and in extreme cases even loss of consciousness.
Causes and precautions:
There are various reasons for low blood pressure therefore treatment is done accordingly edications are used to control high blood pressure. Patients can experience low blood pressure if they take more than the recommended doses of antihypertensive medications. Therefore medicines should be taken according to the physician's prescription.
Women can experience LBP in pregnancy which can be a normal physiological process. However, you should always discuss your blood pressure with your doctor.
Those patients who have weak contraction of heart muscle due to a previous history of heart attack can also suffer from low blood pressure. They should consult their doctor.
Low blood pressure is also experienced if there is dysfunction of heart valves. Again these patients should consult their heart doctor.
Fever, vomiting, diarrhea and excess use of diuretic medicines (tends to increase the flow of urine) can all lead to low blood pressure by reducing salt and water in the body. Increase fluid and salt intake can correct this problem.
Excess blood loss due to an accident can also cause low blood pressure. This is a serious problem and patients should be taken immediately to the hospital.
